School Vacations
Fall Break is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2009; students will not have school on Friday, February 12, 2010 (teacher professional day) or Monday, February 15. Spring break is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 22, 2010 (there will be school on Friday, March 19); students will be dismissed on Good Friday at 1:00/1:15 PM.

Teacher
Thursdays
These are early release days for students that will allow for some common planning time for teachers. The teachers will use the time for curriculum, event, and level planning, as well as professional development sessions and meetings. Six Teacher Thursdays are scheduled for the 2009-2010 school year: September 17, October 8, November 12, January 14, February 11 and April 8. Students will have lunch on all early releaser days with dismissal at 1:00/1:15 PM.

- The building will open at 7:30 AM for students who must arrive early. Supervison will take place in the gym. All students will be dismissed from the gym at 7:45 AM. Classes will begin PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM after which will be counted as tardy. Dismissal takes place at 3:00/3:15 PM. Please communicate your dismissal time with your child.
- Students in grades K – 8 will wear uniforms on the first day of school. There will be no significant changes made to the uniform policy. Should any additional changes be made, you will be notified.
- If you child will walk home from school, either on a regular or occasional basis, a letter stating this must be on file in the school office before we will allow a child to leave the building. A new letter must be on file each school year.
- All correspondence will go home on Monday in a manila “Take Home Envelope” with the youngest child of the family. The envelope will need to be signed and returned on Tuesday.
- Milk will be available on the first day of school and information regarding purchase for the year will come home with your child that day.

Highlights
For New Families
- Please use a sealed envelope marked
with your child’s name when sending money to school.
- School bags are requested for each
kindergarten child for daily use.
- Please label jumpers, shirts, and sweatshirts
clearly with your child’s name. Please also label
book bags, jackets, hats, and boots.
- Tennis shoes are required on days when
children have PE in the gym.
- Changes in address, phone numbers,
or emergency numbers should be promptly reported to the
school office.
- School communications, including notices
and newsletters should be carefully read so that parents
can be aware of all activities. It is important to note
that there will be days when the schedule changes to
accommodate field trips and special events. The
school calendar and classroom newsletters can be accessed
on Edline.
- Please send a note to the classroom
teacher if there will be a change in transportation home.
- Please don’t hesitate to call
or request a conference if you have a question or concern
regarding your child.
- When your child will be absent from
school, please call the school office prior to 10AM.
The attendance line can be accessed prior to our office
opening at 7:30AM by calling the school and following
the directions on the message. After 7:30AM, you can
either access the attendance line or talk to someone
in the office.
